Where they are: Children are ready to embark on a classroom experience without their adults by their side. They are ready to develop early literacy skills; collaborate and negotiate with their peers; and learn ways to communicate, cooperate and play together. What to expect in class: A playful twist on a traditional preschool/pre-k class. Children will develop the fundamental skills necessary for reading and writing as we explore letter recognition, phonics, sight words, spelling, and comprehension. They will build social skills during Gathering Time, while exploring the day’s fun and imaginative theme, and during Show and Share. Children will learn decision-making skills and build fine motor skills during our station play, and expand their creativity through art. The learning will extend to the home with printable “Literacy Kits”, with letter and theme-based worksheets. We will help prepare them for a lifetime love of school, classrooms, and learning. Lil' Chefs will experience classic French café cuisine by making homemade crepes, beignets, Chicken Cordon Bleu, elegant tarts, and freshly baked baguettes. ABOUT SUMMER CAMP: Whether your child likes to bake, create, roast, sauté, fry, or blend, we have a camp for all interests. Our camps are organized into 3 age groups, so all chefs team up with their peers. All chefs will get to taste everything that they cook. All recipes will be sent home for later preparation. A child may also pack up any uneaten tastings to share at home. This is a hands-on cooking camp. So, our Chefs will play games, or let our Tiny Chefs color, or play other food-related games to finish our time. Unless you purchase a 30-minute Pre-Care pass, you may arrive NO MORE THAN 10 minutes early for check-in, and you MUST stay with your child until the start of camp. Also, unless you purchase an After-Care pass, any guardian who is late picking up their child will be charged $50 for every 10-minute increment upon completion of the camp – unless we are notified of the tardiness in advance. Little Folkies is excited to offer classes at KIDDIE ACADEMY this Summer 💛 Season 2026! Little Folkies' folk music class that welcomes toddlers and preschoolers to come together every week to sing like one big family! There is never a dull moment in this class, with the teacher leading the students through fun and engaging finger play activities, hand movements, fun lap songs, call and response singing and hands-on jamming with shakers, wooden kids instruments, harmonicas, and more! The sweet, gentle and simple songs of the folk tradition have lyrics easy enough for children to sing along to and creating positive early musical memories for them.
